Hi, Does the computer detect the fingerprint reader at all? If it shows up in 'device manager' with a yellow exclamation mark then you have a driver issue. In this case try reinstalling your fingerprint reader driver software. If your device is not being detected at all, try reinstalling your usb drivers from within 'device manager' then plugging your fingerprint reader in once again. If this doesn't solve your problem, you will need to have the reader tested as it is most likely faulty.

If it doesn't come back on then, you're probably gonna need a new one. Also, check the system tray icon for the fingerprint reader. Hover your mouse over it. If it says that the reader is connected, chances are that red light just somehow isn't working.
