If the actual prices from past periods cannot be harvested directly, then columns with the price performance would provide the same information If that is not possible, maybe another routine could be added to add the 3 columns harvesting the price data from Yahoo using the tickers from the FinViz Data output. I did this once manually using the single-key FinViz price performance filter 3 times, then combining the filters manually, but that is quite a bit of effort that is simple to do in a worksheet given the data. Hi All, I am fairly new to windows programming. A few months ago I started to program some directx stuff (a little solar system;-)). Now I would like to make it more user friendly and add some graphical user interface stuff (I would already be happy to have a window with the graphics in and pull down menus from top as a starter!!). I searched around on the web to see what different ways there are to do this. I need to say I am lost. I do not even know anymore in what direction to search for.

If someone could give me advice: I stumbled over MFC, WPF but also other things like QT (non microsoft) and alike. The thing is that I would like to use C because I know it fairly well (at least the language itself from years of linux programming) and I would like to use Visual C Express Edition. Is WPF the way to go? Or are neither of them supported in the Express editions? Is C even the way to go? Thanks for any advice!

Unmanaged (native) code: MFC is not contained in the Express Edition of Visual C. You need at least the standard edition for that. You can write GUI programs using the plain Win32 API, but it is a lot of work. As you have noted there are also 3rd party standard C GUI libraries (WTL, wxwidgets, QT.). Managed (.NET) code: WPF is not supported by Visual C. You will need to go with C# or VB.NET for that.

You can generate a WinForms (.NET) application using C/CLI, which is an extension of standard C that can target the.NET framework. The great advantage of this is that you can use all your existing C code (It Just Works). The downside is that Microsoft is no longer promoting C/CLI for.NET GUI programs, and that some features present in C# are not available in C/CLI. Or you can go with C# for the GUI (WinForms or WPF), and use C/CLI to wrap your existing C code so it can be used from C#. Or you can rewrite all your C code in C#. Lots of choices.
