No internet connection is required and you can customize the print format right from the truck driver app. I've had this app. Was great in the beginning as a basic phone app log book. It had its issues with freezing but over time got alot worse.
Now it's a constant thing. It will work with your eld 'they say' but what's the point now that all vehicles are required to have an ELD.

Will not accept it now as a log book. They want to see your eld in the vehicle even tho you have a hand held device that works with the eld. Even if it does 'work' with the app, it freezes now and will get you in trouble. It's for personal use now at best. By law- You have to have a waiver from the d.o.t. Stating the vehicle has a 90 day exemption from eld until feburary, starting in december if it does not have an eld right now.
Paper logs are required with 14 days prior. An electronic app that freezes will only get you in trouble. After feburary 2018, they WILL NOT ACCEPT ANY OTHER LOGS or e.l.d. OTHER THAN YOUR VEHICLE ELD AND YOUR CARRIER MUST BE ABLE TO PRESENT PRIOR LOGS IF REQUESTED! THEY WILL NOT ACCEPT THIS APP AS A LEGAL LOG. YOU MUST PRESENT PAPER LOGS WITH A WAIVER FROM THE DOT UNTIL FEBURARY 2018.

AFTER THAT, NOTHING BUT YOUR VEHICLE E.L.D. If in doubt, feel free to ask your local dot officer or highway patrol. This is a great app. I would gladly give 5 stars if one simple change was made.
It needs to display 'time left until available' in red. Or more simply, a negative number in any clock to show time remaining until hours become available. This would help out a lot instead of having to go back and calculate when hours will become available. For example, if there is 7:36 hours completed in the sleeper, and, in 24 more minutes there will be some time available after the 8-Hour Sleeper Provisional is completed, then the 11-Hour clock should read '-00:24' rather than a 0:00. Or if no time is available until completing a full 10-hour rest break, and there is 3.23 hours remaining until the clock gets replenished back to 11:00, due to 7.77 hours already competed in off duty and sleeper combined, then, it should read '-3:23 instead of 0:00.' Also, for recaps, a bar that displays time remaining until the current day's recap become available. '9.34 hours available in 2.54 hours' or '9.34 available in -2.54'.
As an ELD and logbook, it's pretty good, but it has a couple of privacy and security holes. It won't run without location turned on, even though the ELD has GPS locating internally. This means that the app logs and tracks the driver's personal location whenever he's logged on duty, whether driving or not. The location of the truck itself should be the only location needed. Also, it doesn't have a way to lock the phone into inspection mode. When you hand the phone to a DOT officer, there's nothing preventing him from backing out of the app and having full access to everything on the device.
When our DOT person asked KT about this, their response was- and I'm paraphrasing- 'Oh, he wouldn't do that. That would be illegal'.
But otherwise, pretty good app. I suggest running it on a dedicated device that never leaves the cab, though. EDIT- The current version now has a lock for inspection mode, but it only locks the app. The device's home button still takes you to the home screen, even when locked into inspection mode. This allows full access to the device, which is my primary concern. I cannot raise my rating, unfortunately.
