The famous American rock band 311 was formed in late eighties in Nebraska. Its members have been friends since the school and they were united by their love to music. Once, the young men decided to try their luck in the music field.

The success did not come during the very first stages, but it could not stop the artists. Shows at local bars and small clubs turned out to be a good thing anyway, as soon as it brought such a priceless experience.
By 1991 the guitarist Jim Watson left the band, but soon his place was taken by Tim Mahoney. Later the group was joined by a DJ and a vocalist Douglas Martinez.

Thereby, together with Chad Sexton, Nick Hexum and Aaron Wills they formed 311 in the shape that became popular to music lovers all around the world. 311’s debut record saw the light in 1993 and it got quite the logical name Music. The musicians managed to attract attention to their creativity in practically no time. It is worth mentioning that 311 had already had the fans in West Coast – numerous shows definitely played their role.
Then the task was to conquer the rest of the USA and the whole world. Who knows if the rockers really had such plans, however they conquered the world indeed. A year later 311 issued the second studio attempt Grassroots (1994), while their self-titled album 311 was released in 1995. By the way, it was 311 that presented such well-known and tried-and-true hits as All Mixed Up and Don't Stay Home. The studio work titled Transistor (1997) proved to be not less interesting then its predecessors and got the Platinum status – the connoisseurs of music really enjoyed the easy recognizable unique 311 style. The rockers somehow managed to combine various directions in their art, from funk-rock and funk-metal to reggae and even jazz-fusion. These genres are quite different from each other, and some of these directions are really exotic, thereby they are so interesting to listeners.
This musical diversity was among other reasons, which led the band to success. Soundsystem (1999) pleased the band’s fans with new hits, including the famous Come Original, Flowing and other songs, which took a notable place in 311’s discography. It may be a surprise, but one can hardly find a sort of an average work of 311, because all of them had been created with true love.
Traditional cobwebs of various genres and styles, very thick and juicy guitar sound, ideal distribution of neat sound effects – these are some of the reasons why 311 are so much loved by music lovers all around the globe. The release of 311’s freshest studio attempt titled Universal Pulse took place in 2011. During the twenty-year professional career the rockers did not lose an interest to the music, so their desire to create something new is realized through melodies and notes.
